The Story
Sagaponack Trading Company began as my husband's idea to create coasters that people would actually want to use. Alright, I'll be completely honest here - coasters that men would use because the artwork resonates with them. I was on board mainly because I had just resigned from a very intense business and needed something to occupy my chaotic mind. I tend to lean towards the masculine side of design and was very excited to start creating imagery for this new venture. I spent about two months, maybe more, drawing, creating wall artworks, and reworking public domain illustrations to develop a palette that speaks a balanced masculine/feminine language. The idea quickly escalated to adding more products and new imagery and started snowballing to the point where I thought this may never come to life.
At some point, the stylus had to be put down, and we had to start focusing on building a website. I assumed it would take about a week to finish a basic website, but I must have been two glasses of wine into that thought! So, after creating all of the products, taking photographs, creating product pages, SEO, site design, etc., we are ready to get this in gear!
Our mission is to create beautiful imagery that he, she, and they can all appreciate, with a heavy nod to nature on natural products like kitchenware, barware, and creating wall art from upcycled and recycled materials. We also will offer wall prints of some artwork I have created.
Another goal of ours is to work with other artists and bring their visions to you and to inspire people with a love of nature and the protection of natural habitats as much as we can. That seems doable-ish.
Thank you for taking the time to read this!
